Gretchen & Chris | July 22, 2023

When it comes to tying the knot, there’s something incredibly special about choosing a locale that deeply resonates with the couple. For Gretchen and Chris, that place was the picturesque Edson Hill in Stowe, Vermont. Their love story, entwined with Vermont’s natural beauty, came to life on July 22, 2023, as they celebrated their wedding with 170 guests in Edson Hill’s scenic meadow.

Gretchen, a native of nearby Colchester, had always dreamed of a Vermont wedding, a vision that Chris, too, came to share after falling in love with the Green Mountain State during their stay at Gretchen’s childhood home amidst the Covid-19 Pandemic. Their dream was to immerse their guests in the Vermont experience, beginning with an intimate rehearsal dinner on Edson Hill’s Upper Patio.

Overlooking the serene pond, guests savored a sophisticated barbecue of sustainably caught salmon and smoked & braised beef brisket, their enjoyment enhanced by the dramatic sight of a quick yet intense rainstorm sweeping across the landscape. After heartfelt toasts under the protective awning, the festivities continued with a lively welcome party in the Spruce Peak village at Stowe Mountain Resort.

On the big day, a dream team of vendors led by Randi Nonni Events, and the talented florists at Blomma Flicka, transformed the venue into a romantic wonderland. The reception tent ceiling was adorned with lush greenery, while the ceremony arbor – one of the most exquisite we’ve seen to date – was a symphony of florals.

Donned in a breath-taking Pnina Tornai gown, Gretchen was the epitome of bridal elegance, perfectly complemented by Chris, dapper in his sharp tuxedo. Her bridesmaids – sisters among them – were a sight to behold in their champagne-hued ensembles. The symphonic strains of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra created the perfect soundtrack as Gretchen, arm in arm with her parents, processed towards the ceremony, presided over by Fr. Dwight Baker.

As the night fell, the celebration continued unabated. The Sultans, their phenomenal band, ensured that the dance floor was never empty – even our kitchen team was spotted dancing! After the reception, the newlyweds and their friends extended the festivities at the Tavern at Edson Hill, sharing pizza, nightcaps, and heartwarming stories around the fire pit.

The following morning, as the guests relished a delightful breakfast on Edson Hill’s Upper Patio, the air was filled with laughter and recounting of the previous day’s events. From the ponds and pastures to the encircling mountains, the spectacular Vermont landscape provided a breathtaking backdrop.

Through the lenses of Joshua Kane Photography, and Arthur of Kane & Co. Wedding Films, this spectacular summer wedding was immortalized. Special thanks to Randi & Madelyn of Randi Nonni Events and the incredible team of creatives for orchestrating this Vermont wedding masterpiece.

With the romantic tale of Gretchen and Chris, Edson Hill has once again shown how it translates love stories into extraordinary wedding experiences. If you’re dreaming of your own Vermont wedding, let Edson Hill be your own private estate for your special weekend, just as it was for Gretchen and Chris.
