Earlier this month, we scooted up north for a little visit to Stowe, Vermont—a charming mountain-side town brimming with stunning scenery, historic New England charm, and so much to do in every season!

And we stayed at the sweetest place ever…

Just a 3-hour drive from Portsmouth, Stowe feels like it’s worlds away. As we drove along Stowe’s Mountain Road, we took a right that led us up a hill to our sweet home away from home for the next two nights—Edson Hill.

From the natural beauty of the property, to the perfectly-manicured gardens, the shimmering light on the pond, and horse stables that welcomed us upon arrival, we knew we were going to settle in just fine…

We neared our destination and were welcomed by the quaint manor house, sweet cottages, and outdoor patios sprinkled with ivory umbrellas and tea lights. Adirondack chairs gazed out at the swimming pond, and we spotted a few leaves starting to change as we watched the sun set over the mountains in the distance…

Edson Hill is truly a retreat. With only 22 rooms on property and a relaxing atmosphere throughout, it sometimes felt like we were enjoying a quiet getaway in our own country escape.

Each room at Edson Hill is unique and one-of-a-kind. We stayed in the “Be Positive” room, which included a deep soaking tub. Whether you prefer to stay in the cozy rooms at the Manor House, or in the comfy cottages just a few steps away, each space at Edson Hill offers luxury living with a hint of rustic charm!

*Currently, only the cottages are open to guests, so as to abide by Vermont’s state guidelines. Each cottage offers a private entrance and parking.*

THINGS TO DO IN STOWE, VERMONT!

While we’ve typically headed to Stowe in the winter months for a snow-y getaway and skiing down Mount Mansfield, we were happy to discover that Stowe is just as fun in the summer months!

The bodies of water that are typically frozen in winter are perfect spots for an outdoor picnic; the mountaintops people typically ski down, are great for hiking; and the trails used for cross country skiing and snow shoeing are beautiful bike trails (We loved riding the 5-mile long Stowe Recreation Path).!

Enjoy the scenery and stunning views by driving up the Auto Toll Road at Mount Mansfield, or by embarking on the Gondola SkyRide! Take in a few rounds of mini golf and hit the lanes at Stowe Bowl right on Mountain Road!

Downtown Stowe offers many local spots in which to enjoy shopping, sipping, and dining. Laughing Moon Chocolates is an absolute must, as is Cork for dinner! Piecasso is a lively spot for a casual lunch or dinner, and offers slices of pizza to go!

The foliage was just starting to turn during our late-summer visit. Local corn mazes were open and we were starting to get a little taste of fall.
