Numerous incredible hikes can be kicked off right from this historic village itself, including the route up to Sunset Rock and its dazzling view of Mount Mansfield, crown of the Green Mountains.
Or consider hoofing it to Moss Glen Falls, through the maple magic of Kircher Woods, or up to the Stowe Pinnacle. And speaking of Mount Mansfield, its grand flanks and summit offer multiple exhilarating hiking adventures (with some good, honest huffing-and-puffing involved—plus bragging rights!).
Mountain bikers have oodles of trails to enjoy, not least the extensive circuits of Cady Hill Forest and Sterling Forest. And from the Stowe Recreation Path to explorations out to Morrisville and other nearby towns, the road-biking opportunities in summer are rich indeed.
Feel like cooling off amid fine Green Mountain State scenery? Consider a swim in the West Branch River or the Waterbury Reservoir, go stand-up paddleboarding on Lake Elmore, or take a kayak safari on the Winooski River. There’s plenty of top-quality fishing to be had during the Stowe summer, too.
