Memorial Day Happenings & Activities in Stowe

Memorial Day weekend is a great time to wander the streets of Stowe, basking in the grandeur of the Green Mountains and the Worcester Range while enjoying the charming architecture and ambience of one of the Northeast’s great mountain hamlets.

On Saturday, May 28th, you’ll have the perfect introduction (or reintroduction) to the village’s magic courtesy of the â€œBest of Stowe” festival put on along Main Street by Stowe Vibrancy. Shop among artisan merchants while savoring fabulous bites, wine, and other epicurean pleasures from restaurants and food vendors.

Participating Best of Stowe businesses will include Caledonia Spirits & Bar Hill Gin, the Country Store on Main, Green Envy Boutique, Rising Sun Bakery, Tangerine & Olive Merchants and Laughing Moon Chocolates, among numerous others. Picnic on the lawn, and take in the live tunes in the Village Green, which’ll be featuring performances by the Vermont Jazz Trio, composed of local musicians Ray Vega on trumpet, Tom Cleary on keys, Jeremy Hill on the double bass, and Peter Schkmeeckle on percussion.

The following day, Sunday the 29th, you’ll find the fabulous Stowe Farmers’ Market underway in the expansive and inviting field at 2043 Mountain Road. From local produce and dairy to maple syrup, baked goods, mushrooms, herbal concoctions, and spirits, explore the richness of the region’s bounty and track down some souvenirs—local paintings, pottery, photographs, jewelry, and more—amid the many arts-and-crafts stalls.

And if you work up an appetite, fear not: The Farmers’ Market hosts a slew of prepared-food vendors serving up pizzas, farm-fresh salads, BBQ, crepes, ice cream, and plenty of other good stuff. (The Stowe Farmers’ Market will be humming along from mid-May through mid-October, by the way.)
